Something for Harry's Daddy

I finally made something for Harry's Daddy.
He wanted something to keep his coffee money in at work, so this is what Harry gave him for Father's Day.

Not quite sure how he's going to explain that he got a purse for Fathers Day :)

Knits & Packages

I had my first try at sewing with knits.
I used this tutorial and I tried her drafting method.
Yep, the drafting needs a bit of work. But it's my first try with drafting and sewing with knits so at least you'll be able to see my improvements. The ribbing around the neck was made with an old t-shirt of mine.

This bundle of goodness arrived in the mail this week.
So many possibilities....

Red Market Blouse

Here's my second attempt at the Lisette Market Blouse.
The fabric is Lisette fabric that I bought from Jo-Anns while in the US last month.
Alterations & Fitting: I measured up as size 12 but after reading the forum and looking at finished measurements I went for the size 10 and it fits really well. I used a 3/8" seam under the sleeves and added about 1.5" to the length of this second blouse.
That's all for now :)

Photo Update

I made this Oliver + S Family Reunion dress about a month ago. It's still waiting for a home.

Nice hem detail
Harry's second shirt. I made this for a family photo shoot we had recently. It worked out pretty well. And now that I've discovered there is a small but fairly important error in the Sketchbook pattern the next one will be even better.

I intended to wear this Lisette blouse to our photo shoot but didn't in the end. I don't think my husband is really into anything vaguely "vintage". I am in the middle of making a second blouse, hopefully he will like it more??
It was again pleasing to make and such a neat finish. The pattern had a similar technique to the Family Reunion dress for finishing the neckline which makes the inside look lovely.

Another work in progress.

My deadline is approaching for these cushion covers so hopefully Spotlight gets more cushion inserts in stock soon or I'll have to be creative about filling them :)

Another Skirt

I made this skirt a while ago. I like it lots. Will definitely be making more of these.

I have so many things I want to make at the moment! A lot that need to be done before the end of August so hopefully there will be some more frequent posting here :)

Happy Days

Harry turned 1 on Thursday and we went out for coffee and cake with a friend whose daughter was born on the same day. I had been planning to make a little dress for her for months. On Monday night after nearly completing another gift for a little girl in my Mothers Group I decided the dress was too boring and so Tuesday I started making a new outfit and I'm particularly happy with the outcome.
Once again left the photo taking till the last minute and they are terrible.
I used more Saffron Craig fabric and Aneela Hoey Sherbet Pips.
The pattern was Oliver + S Sailboat Skirt.
Cute kick pleat in the back. It was fairly quick and easy to make.

Size was 12-18 months so hopefully it will fit well for the summer when she's toddling around :)

A Few Things

Been busy sewing the last week.

I now have a sewing table! Woohoo.

First project was a little travel wetbag for Dad to replace his current Qantas one. In case he doesn't realise the inside is lined with waterproof fabric. As I was finishing it off I got an email saying he had just been upgraded to upstairs business class for Dallas-Brisbane flight. I'm guessing he would have been given a nice wetbag then. Oh well. I bet it didn't have penguins on it though.

The top one was my first attempt and it just turned out too small and cause it was quite fiddley to make the finish was pretty average. Harry preferred the second one too.

I received some layers of goodness in the mail:

Have cut into a few pieces.... watch this space :)
